The Standard Adds Veteran Event Professionals
We’re thrilled to announce the addition of Dionne and Beth to The Standard.
Dionne Bishop is the founder of Events by Dionne Inc. With 15 years experience in the event and marketing industries, Dionne has planned and overseen corporate and social events across major markets in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean. Dionne is known for her ability to strategically plan creative, results driven events that help her clients increase brand awareness and authentically connect them with BIPOC audiences.
For 8 years, Dionne was at Canada’s largest Entertainment and Business Events Venue, marketing and producing events for its 3 main brands -- Exhibition Place, Enercare Centre and Beanfield Centre (formerly known as Allstream Centre). She began freelancing for various organizations and in 2020 as a direct result of the pandemic became the founder of Events by Dionne Inc. an event agency that provides talented and diverse event professionals with the opportunity to serve some of the best clients.
Like so many women who have joined The Standard, Dionne explained how she wanted to give back. "I navigated my career in marketing and events for over 15 years without access to mentorship, guidance or anyone in senior leadership who looked like me. When I saw The Standard advocating for the advancement and inclusion of Canadian Black women in marketing I knew I had to join. To be able to give back to the community and work alongside like-minded women is a dream experience for me here in Canada.”
Dionne's love for travel, fashion, music and food provides her with a constant source of inspiration for any event concept she produces. Her ability to match creativity and logistical precision allows for events to not only look good, but to be executed seamlessly as well.
Beth Im-Jenkins is a sport and entertainment leader with 15 years experience working on large scale international events, working with organizations and institutions such as; OverActive Media, Canadian Olympic Committee, 2017 Invictus Games, Euro Cup, 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games, Swimming Canada, Judo Canada, Special Olympics and University of British Columbia and Western University.
As a BIPOC woman, Beth explained her interest in joining The Standard lies in community. “I'm excited to be a Co-Lead on the MembersXP committee, I joined the Standard to be a part of a community network of strong Black Women, to learn, listen and add my organizational talent and expertise to elevate The Standard for all Women, especially BIPOC women.”
Beth is currently working in the booming industry of esports, most recently managing two of Toronto's esports franchises - Toronto Ultra (Call of Duty) and the Toronto Defiant (Overwatch). She is leading the live events vertical for OverActive Media as they look to bring live esports events to the Toronto market.
In her spare time, she enjoys staying active; hiking, running, spinning & basketball, filling her cup with her chosen family of friends, board games and puzzles.
Welcome Dionne and Beth as the new Co-Leads of our Membership Experience Committee!
